February’s Model Citizens were nominated by the Science Department for exemplifying diversity and inclusion

Aafia Ahmed is an outstanding young scientist who excels while ensuring that others are supported and their views heard. She consistently contributes towards helping her classmates, and publishes outstanding articles in the school newspaper to highlight and celebrate diversity.

Chase Ridley is an outstanding scientist with immense talent for djembe drumming! When he isn’t developing novel concrete for Mars colonization, he is helping connect his classmates to PTSA meetings and events. Chase laughs at everyone’s jokes and helps his classmates whenever they need assistance.

Jeefarbianie G Fabre exemplifies the essence of diversity and inclusion as a Model Citizen for Science. Despite facing the challenge of joining Elmont mid-year as an entry-level English Language Learner, she has displayed remarkable resilience and determination in tackling the demanding subject of Living Environment. Jeefarbianie's commitment to learning is evident through her frequent attendance at extra help sessions and her proactive approach to seeking clarification on complex topics. Her unwavering participation in class discussions and her demonstrated grit make her a shining example of perseverance and inclusivity in the pursuit of scientific knowledge.

Shelsie Calixte actively engages with her peers during group discussions and pair and share activities. She creates an environment of inclusivity and empowerment among her classmates, ensuring that everyone feels valued and capable. She patiently explains complex concepts, taking the time to ensure that her peers understand the content clearly. Shelsie's dedication and empathy for her classmates make her a true Spartan. as a model citizen.

Abigail Brunson is a hardworking and dedicated student in Ms. Brown's and Ms. Bursig's Living Environment class. Although Abby is a model student in the classroom, she consistently demonstrates upstanding character as well. Abby is very empathetic and caring towards her fellow classmates and can often be seen helping and tutoring her peers in the classroom, which demonstrates her inclusive nature. She is a clear leader in the 8th grade.
