The Model Citizens for October were nominated by the Social Studies department, and the theme of the month was kindness. 

Sabrina Torres has displayed her kindness in class in many ways. Sabrina has helped translate for many of the new ENL students in ENL class. She has embodied the theme of the class, which is “ Celebrate our Uniqueness” by helping out her classmates. Oftentimes, she would work in a group with new students to help them with their work and doing so with a smile on her face.

Azram Ejaz is a new student to Elmont and has quickly acclimated to the school. She is hard working and kind. She is often seen spending her time in class helping other students with their work. She is ambitious and insightful, often motivating her peers and anyone around her to do better. She is also thoughtful and always complimenting her classmates which helps create a nurturing and positive classroom environment.

Mahaveen Iftikhar is an exceptional student in the Pre-College World History program. She has displayed her love for learning and often engages her peers and teachers in thought-provoking conversations. Her academic performance remains one of the best in her class. Mahaveen is eager to help any classmate with academic concerns and always does so with a smile. Her positive attitude, general good-naturedness and outgoing personality make her a popular student among the faculty, student body, and school administration.

Isabelle Neptune is truly a model citizen. Her positivity and kindness light up the classroom. She helps her peers understand tasks when they are struggling and always volunteers to help around the room. Izzy’s positivity is contagious! She is an absolute asset to our learning environment.

Khloe Gajadhar is a student who exemplifies the quality of kindness every day. Khloe is always ready to lend a helping hand to her classmates. Khloe guides her classmates when they are lost on an assignment and takes the time to make sure they understand the task. Outside of the classroom, Khloe shows kindness in the hallways and has a positive attitude to everyone she encounters. 

Imani Barriffe-Johnson is a model citizen who leads by example. Through her hard work inside and outside the classroom, Imani models perfect citizenship. She comes to work every day and helps all students achieve.  She always is willing to lead the class through whatever task is given to them.  She is a student all teachers need in a classroom.  Imani deserves to be recognized because she comes to work every day looking to be the best student she can be.    

Vizra Afzal is a model citizen who works hard every day to help every student achieve. Vizra is always willing to go above and beyond the requirements given to make the classroom environment a better place for all. Vizra is a leader in the classroom that is always there ready to work and create a positive work environment for all students. Her diligence and work ethic have helped her become one of the model citizens in the classroom. Vizra deserves to be recognized for her achievement because her passion to succeed is evident in her consistency inside the classroom.    

Blake Roberts is a model citizen through his leadership on and off the field.  Blake is a student that will compliment students that are doing the right thing and he advocates for all students.  Blake is a true leader that all students know will help assist in creating a positive workplace for all.  His ability to lead in the classroom is evident with the respect he shows all students and his passion to include others.  Blake deserves to be recognized because he is a Model Citizen that has passion and drive to be the best he can be.     

Kassie Rosier exemplifies the model student. She comes to class prepared and ready to lead every day. She is always willing to help students do better. Her positivity is contagious in the classroom. If Kassie is working alone or in a group, she is always assisting all to stay on track and accomplish the task. She is a student all teachers need in the classroom to help make a positive working educational environment. Kassie deserves to be recognized as a model citizen because she shows empathy to all and wants everyone to be great.         

Daniyah Bleus is a model citizen for the theme of “kindness.” Through both her words and her actions, she exemplifies kindness. She is a very empathetic individual, leading with compassion and concern for others. She has befriended students that are new to Elmont Memorial and made sure to introduce them to her own friend group. Inclusion matters to Daniyah. She makes the school community a better place.

Abubakar Qureshi is a model citizen for the theme of “kindness.” Abubakar is a new student to Elmont, but has transitioned into the school community with ease due to his friendly and open-minded disposition. He is a great team player and works well with others, both in U.S. Government and U.S. History. Abubakar is an incredibly respectful and polite student, always being mindful of how his words and actions impact others. Abubakar is truly an asset to the Elmont community, and we are lucky to have him.

Jose Ordonez- Jose is always willing to help the new students who enter the class and makes them feel comfortable in their surroundings. It is for this reason Jose is nominated as a model citizen at Elmont because his kindness shows daily through his willingness to help others. 

Angel Abioye has demonstrated kindness throughout the school year. She is nothing but kind to her classmates, teachers and peers. She will always go the extra mile to ensure that everyone in the classroom and school feels welcome and accepted. When working in groups she will always ensure that everyone’s voice is heard and works diligently together to achieve their goal.

Menujan Nanthakumar is a model student and citizen in Elmont. Menujan is a kind student who looks to help everyone around him. In class, he looks for every opportunity to help and assist the students around him. Menujan’s kindness is infectious and brings a positive energy to our class.

Sumayyah Butt is hyper focused on her grades and is kind to her classmates. She pushes her classmates to be as competitive as she is.

Marley Gobern-Moss is a student who helps to start the day off great. She always does the right thing and has voluntarily taken on the responsibility of helping her classmates when they struggle. She is an awesome student and a hard worker.

Sarah Rodriguez is bright and exemplifies what a model student should be. Her work ethic and determination showcase the effort she puts forth.

Samantha Heron helps others and assist everyone in the classroom. She raises her hand for all questions and tries to push conversations when new topics are covered. She’s a great presence to have in the classroom and an even better student.

Anaika LaTouche steadily continues to work very hard and shine bright as an exemplary student who does the right thing all the time. 

Mya Noel is smart, witty, focused and determined. She is always ready for a challenge in class, always the first to answer and very informed. She is a pleasure to have in the classroom.

Amarii Williams is one of the most unique young creative minds. His ability to create items with his 3D printer and his skill to build mechanical objects with Legos showcases the focus, dedication, and skill this young man possesses.

Jahzeel Daniels is a pleasure to have in the class, greets his teachers with respect and treats his classmates the same way. He maintains an average above mastery and is thriving to be better. 

Simone Alford is one of the nicest young ladies in the 8th grade, always works hard, and continues to emulate what a model student should be.

Breantae Chambers returned a wallet with a substantial amount of money to the main office.
